Project Overview #06.008
North Star Centre
This newly-constructed project is a single story wood-framed 17,000 square foot retail center located on the corner of 36th Avenue and the Old Seward Highway in Anchorage.
Originally, this site had some significant environmental issues we had to overcome before the first bucket of dirt could be moved.
For example, the ground water on the lot had high levels of toxicity and had to be monitored during excavation for trace contaminates, which originated from an old gas station to the southeast. Permitting from the Municipality of Anchorage, DEC, EPA and Department of Transportation was intense and cumbersome, but in the end our team was able to resolve all these environmental issues prior to the start of construction.
The building core and shell construction started in the summer of 2006 and has a completion date of this January. As we continually work through adverse winter weather, the exterior finishes of colored metal and synthetic stucco are being completed under heated-cover protection in order to meet our deadline and ensure client satisfaction.
No matter what obstacles we endure, whether it is environmental or weather-related, we continually strive to exceed our standards of excellence and take pride in our skills and knowledge to do what it takes to get the job done "on time and under budget."
